Skycomp - Since 1970

Skycomp originated from a 1960's program within the Port of New York Authority named "Project Skycount". Through this initiative, the Port Authority measured traffic flow parameters on highways connecting its major bridges, tunnels, airports and seaports. In 1970, one of Skycount's directors, Tom Jordan, left the agency to form an independent company specializing in airborne data collection methods. He named the company "Skycomp", in recognition of the benefits of blending the vantage point and mobility of airborne platforms with the promise of computer processing technologies.

Today, exciting new technologies are emerging to further realize the promise of the "Skycomp" name. And the use of Skycomp's photo-communication tools are even more relevant with today's focus on congestion mitigation projects, maximum participation of stakeholders and the public in decision-making, and before-after accountability for the funds invested.
