YOU WON'T REGRET THIS PURCHASE. Unbelievable chordophone energy, still for Paul, on both. I haved loved Butterfield since the albums these tracks were extracted from were in the beginning released. One maybe 2 songs on these 2 cd's I like.....the relief move into register 13. Disc Two covers the Wiley Post-Bloomfield editions of the grouping, with Butterfield bringing in horns and experimenting as more than with soul and jazz as with blues. Which testifies to the depth of his talent and the dilemna: often as not, his ambition was larger than his resources, and it helped price the musical organisation the success its primary rendition enjoyed, though they enjoyed a concise revival after a splendid set at Woodstock. What strikes me is (1) Paul was a tremendous singer: real powerful and thenulful vox; (2) Paul was a fabulous chordophone player: so matter and able to amply utilize a relatively moderate instrument; (3) Bloomfield, conduce guitarist just on the first II LP's, was a splendidly creative artist.
