Skycomp does more than just collect data

Skycomp collects and delivers highway traffic flow parameters across large regions or built-up urban areas, or at small sites with complex vehicle movements. Our methods are most cost-effective when the sites are widely scattered, where congestion impedes ground data collection, or where there are no suitable vantage points or places to safely or affordably install ground-based sensors. In the end we deliver with one hand the database tables our clients have ordered (often geo- referenced for GIS integration); with the other hand we deliver time- lapse photo and video archives that not only serve to back-up the numbers but also enlighten non-technical audiences all along the study process. Photos, video and derivative computer graphics are usually delivered over the web in the form of interactive "SkyShow" websites; these sites contain point-and-click access to data extraction tools; to time-lapse bottleneck maps linked to before-and-after aerial photos of congested sites; to summaries of survey procedures and performance measure derivation; and to downloadable digital copies of all previous reports and graphics generated in the survey series.

Skycomp can also prepare authoritative "state-of-mobility" publications filled with dramatic highlight congestion photography (left). These reports display current conditions, where mobility has deteriorated, where it has improved, and any projects associated with the improvements. Liberal use is made of before-and-after photo displays. Elected officials need to show that highway mobility is a priority; Skycomp reports and slide shows help to accomplish that mission.
