Morning Conditions at the 14th St Bridge / Anacostia River Crossings
During surveys in 1993, 1996, and 1999, major delays were typically encountered by commuters traveling from Prince George's County in Maryland to Washington D.C and Virginia (via the Anacostia River crossings and Southeast Freeway). Conditions appear to have gradually worsened such that by 1999, average estimated speeds across the bridges and along the Southeast Freeway ranged from 10-30 mph. This graphic depicts how the level-of-service has changed along this corridor between 1993 and 1999.
